Change The Culture! - Sexual Violence Training Events

Our training sessions are aimed at supporting anyone who may come into contact with survivors of sexual violence, abuse and/or harassment.

Our online training sessions are developed to inspire change in the culture and to empower our communities to stand up against sexual violence.

  • To learn about legal duties and safeguarding procedures.

Our training sessions are aimed at supporting anyone who may come into contact with survivors of sexual violence, abuse and/or harassment.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Healthcare professionals
  • Social workers
  • Benefit, welfare and housing staff
  • Youth workers
  • Education staff
  • Therapists and counsellors
  • Parents and carers
  • Legal and court staff
  • Police officers
  • People working in the prison service
  • People working in the voluntary sector

Attending our training is especially important for professionals, as employers have a responsibility to ensure that their staff are appropriately trained and cared for when supporting survivors.
Our training aims to embed an intersectional understanding of feminism and be trauma-informed in its approach.

  • An Introduction to Supporting Survivors of Sexual Violence.

    Thurs, 26th March, 9:30am – 1pm

    This course is intended to offer an introductory understanding of sexual violence and its impacts and provides a good foundation for further learning. You can sign up HERE.

 

  • Responding Well to Disclosures

    Wed, 22nd April, 9:30am – 1pm

    Ideal for people working directly with the public, who may at some point be the person that a survivor of sexual assault first talks to about their assault or abuse. You can sign up HERE.

 

  • Supporting Survivors: Understanding the Criminal Justice Process

    Thurs, 30th April, 1pm to 4:30pm

    The course is for anyone wanting to learn more about the way in which the systems in place respond to survivors of rape and sexual assault, and how these crimes may be dealt with. You can sign up HERE.

 

  • Trauma, the Brain and Trauma-Informed Practices

    Wed, 6th May, 9:30am – 1pm

    The course is ideal for anyone wanting to learn more about psychological trauma, understand the physiological mechanisms operating when we experience trauma, how our brain and body process it, as well as the implications in the development of traumatic symptomatology. It is relevant for anyone working with clients who have experienced trauma, intending to use this knowledge to understand the impact this may have had and support these clients.   • “Pre-trial” Therapy Conditions

    Mon, 18th May, 10am to 4pm

    Ideal for therapists or practitioners whose clients are likely to be involved in the criminal justice system, to upskill in this careful area of work. You can sign up HERE.

 

  • Groupwork Facilitation

    Wed, 20th May, 10am to 1:30pm. *IN PERSON*

    Developing confidence in facilitating groups and understanding what helps create a robust and safe group environment.

    This training day has been designed to develop participants’ knowledge and understanding of groupwork delivery and facilitation, to help uphold attendees’, as well as facilitator’s, safety. You can sign up HERE.

 

  • Self-care in Trauma Exposed Roles

    Thurs, 28th May, 9:30am – 1pm

    This training is for anyone wanting to learn how those in helping roles might face experiences such as burnout or vicarious trauma and considers ways to mitigate and manage the impact of stress using self-care strategies.  You can sign up HERE.
