Focus Group for new Trans, Non-binary & Intersex Project
Consulting with the trans, non-binary and/or intersex communities to inform our work.
The Trans, Non-Binary and Intersex (TNBI) Survivors Project is holding a consultation with the trans, non-binary and/or intersex communities to inform our work. We plan to set up a support group for TNBI people who have experienced sexual violence, and to produce guidance on how organisations can support the community.
This focus group is open to all trans, non-binary and intersex people in the UK, regardless of whether you have experienced sexual violence. Within that, we are particularly interested in hearing from Black people, homeless people, People of Colour, people of faith, sex workers, survivors of violence and people from the intersex community. We will be asking about any experiences of accessing support around sexual violence, what support you wish existed, where you (or those you know) might feel comfortable getting support, and where you, or those close to you, currently talk about sexual violence. We won’t be asking about specific traumatic events, and there will be opportunities to talk one on one with a facilitator should you need any support during or after the focus group.
The focus group will be held at 5pm on 24th September, and is expected to take about an hour. It will be held online via Zoom. If you would prefer to contribute through a one on one interview, this can also be arranged depending on capacity. All attendees will receive a £10 Sainsbury’s voucher for their time.
This project is run by Switchboard and Survivors’ Network, and funded by the SafeSpace Sussex Funding Network, from the office of the Police & Crime Commissioner. We don’t share any identifiable data with the PCC, and we know that many TNBI survivors choose not to report their experiences or take a criminal justice route. We’re interested in exploring and creating ways that survivors can heal and support one another outside of the criminal justice system.
