Creating Safer Campuses:
How Survivors’ Network Consent & Sexual Misconduct Training Supports OfS E6 Compliance
In October 2023, the Office for Students (OfS) introduced a significant policy update through Condition E6, requiring all higher education providers in England to strengthen their approach to preventing and addressing sexual harassment and sexual misconduct on campus.
At Survivors’ Network, Sussex’s Rape Crisis Centre, we’ve been delivering expert, trauma-informed support to survivors and community education for over 35 years. Our bespoke university training packages are carefully designed to help institutions not only meet the technical requirements of Condition E6, but truly embed a culture of safety, respect, and consent across campus.
What is OfS Condition E6?
Condition E6 sets out new requirements for how universities and colleges must:
- Prevent and respond to sexual harassment and misconduct
- Take a trauma-informed and survivor-centred approach
- Provide clear student and staff communications
- Offer accessible training and support
- Promote safe and inclusive environments
Survivors’ Network Training for Universities
Our Consent and Sexual Misconduct Awareness Training is tailored for both students and staff and available via interactive webinars, in-person workshops, or hybrid delivery. Our training:
- Is aligned with the OfS E6 expectations
- Focuses on building safer, consent-aware communities
- Provides real-world bystander intervention tools
- Covers the impact of sexual violence and how to seek support
- Can be customised to reflect your institution’s policies and reporting pathways
All sessions are delivered by specialist, trauma-informed facilitators with deep experience supporting survivors and fostering cultural change.
Why Universities Need to Act Now
With public scrutiny increasing and students demanding meaningful action on campus safety, universities must do more than meet minimum requirements. They must lead by example. Our training goes beyond compliance — it’s about culture change.
We offer:
- Student webinars (for induction, welcome weeks, or targeted rollouts)
- Staff training (focusing on disclosures, safeguarding, and best practice)
- Policy consultancy to strengthen internal responses
