Helpline support during lockdown
Update 31 March 2020
Update, 9th April 2020:
- We are now running our Helpline twice a week: Mondays and Wednesdays from 12-2pm. There are three numbers you can call us on: 07928 818130 ; 07526 074 753 ; 01273 720 110. These mobiles will only be on during helpline hours.
- You can also email us for support at help@survivorsnetwork.org.uk. We will check and respond to these emails during helpline hours.
During this time where we will be increasingly confined to our homes, we recognise that this is not necessarily a place of safety for many. Many people may face an increase in frequency and indeed severity of domestic and/or sexual violence or abuse as a result of this and other factors.
As ever, it is important that we maintain safe and supportive spaces for survivors to speak out and access help; should this be an immediate need, or down the line if getting in touch is not currently safe to do.
Our offices will still be open albeit with reduced staff, should someone wish to call in to make a referral or find out about our services – you can call us on 01273 203380 or email info@survivorsnetwork.org.uk. Our in-person services (groupwork, drop-in) are currently suspended, but our Helpline will be running every Wednesday from 12-2pm which you can call if you are worried about someone, or if you yourself are directly affected. The phone number is 01273 720110.
In an emergency, please dial 999 if it is safe to do so.
The national Rape Crisis Helpline is available over the phone or as a webchat – find out more here.
The national 24hour Domestic Violence helpline can be contacted on 0808 2000 247. They can give information, advice and support and can also signpost to local organisations. There is also safety planning advice on their website should this be of use to you: link here.
Women’s Aid have also released safety advice for survivors.
Please know that even in difficult times, you do not have to face them alone. We may not be able to support you face-to-face, but we are doing everything we can to help via phone, email and online resources.
We believe you, and hope we can support you in a way that keeps everyone as safe as possible.
